the outdoor
day.1
In the first day of the outdoor, we got up early in the morning, took our big and heavy backpacks and got out of the Olde Vechte. At first, we didn.t know what we had to do, but when we were given the life vests we understood that it was something about water. our first assignment was to build a raft from wood, barrels so that it would hold one team ( made out of 5 people ) plus their luggage. After arriving at the checkpoint, we received the second assignment: to reach a little town, which was arround 10 kilometers far from the first checkpoint, by bike. We also had to bring there fresh milk from a cow, wooden shoes and 10 roses. Our creativity and communication skills helped us a lot. We found a place to stay for the night and quickly fell asleep.
day.2
We started our second outdoor day, some very impressed by the kindness of the dutch people and some full of hope that it will be an energetic day. The first activity was "Follo me walk" and we had to walk through the forest until we would find the answer to what we actually wanted from this outdoor. We had to ring the bell of a church, get signutes, make a piece of art and more. The next assignment was to find Shuilenburgerbrug, the bridge where we started our canoe ride. On the way the two teams became one and we had lots of fun and laughs. We paddled by night on the cannal and at 2 a.m. we found a good place to dock. We slept in the grass in our sleeping bags with no tents and soft pillows. Just us and the shiny stars.
day.3
We woke up in the smell of fresh green grass, with drops of dew on our sleeping bags. The sun was shining and there was nature all around us. As soon as possible, we were back in the canoes, paddling to the nearest bridge. When we got there, we had to wait for the next assignment, and that was to get back to Ommen, 7 km far from the point where we were situated. The clock was ticking, with less than an hour to walk to our final destination, and the starting point of this outdoor. Having few choices left, we decided to hitch-hike. Fortunately, a kind Dutchman, and a policeman brought us back to the train station in Ommen. The last adventure was called "High Ropes". Facing heights, 13-15 m from the ground, in trees, we felt more confident and learned to accept our fear. Finally, we entered the property of Olde Vechte with 4 eggs, horse hair, and lists of people interviewed from our earlier tasks. In our mind, the chorus "Always look on the bright side of life" had a deeper meaning.
